Latin name: Lavandula dentata

A few words: Aromatic plant that grows in the Mediterranean, western Asia and India, lavender has shoots that start from the base, with characteristic gray-green oblong or lanceolate leaves and fragrant purple flowers. Lavender is an ideal plant for rock gardens, for low borders, as it is one of the tallest aromatic plants that reach one meter.

Light: Lavender is looking for sunny places, although it can grow in partial shade. 

Water: Lavender has no special requirements for watering, it needs watering once a week, while excessive moisture can cause drying and rot of the leaves.

Temperature: Lavender is resistant to the hot dry environment of summer and withstands the cold of winter. If we plant lavender in a pot on the balcony, we will choose sunny spots with southern or eastern exposure to thrive. 

Fertilization: Regarding the lavender fertilization, the incorporation of compost and manure during transplanting into the soil is very useful for the growth of the plant. In addition, the addition of complete organic fertilizer, every year, helps in the good growth of the plant and in the rich flowering. 

Last tip: In the first three years after planting lavender, we will need to prune it lightly in the fall.
