Guli Red Plant - Brassica oleracea gongyloides

Latin name: Brassica oleracea gongyloides

A few words: Gouli belongs to the cruciferous family and is a cold-season vegetable. Its leaves and rhizome are rich in nutrients and consist in a large percentage of sulphurous organic compounds (glucosinolites) which are responsible for its characteristic aroma and taste and are also considered to have an anti-cancer effect.

Light: In our garden we choose a spot with at least 6 hours of sunshine to cultivate it

Water: It requires attention because an excessive amount of water can cause cracks as well as the creation of fibers inside the turnip, significantly degrading its quality. Depending on the weather conditions, we adjust the watering taking into account that the average weekly water requirement is about 25 millimeters.

Temperature: The gouli likes a cool climate. It grows, ideally, at temperatures from 15-20°C. It stops growing at 0°C while it can withstand up to -7°C

Fertilization: use Organic fertilizer special for vegetables and green plants.It ensures healthy growth and gives lush vegetation and bright deep green leaves.Every 10-15 days.

Last tip:Weeds in the cultivation of the lettuce should be controlled very systematically in the first 30 days as they cannot compete with the weeds in the early stages of growth.
