Product description

Latin name: Spathiphyllum

A few words: The spathiphyllum is one of the most popular and beautiful indoor plants. The spathiphyllum belongs to the plants that grow in water and we can place it in a vase, without soil, to decorate our living room and office. It has large, dark green leaves, which rest on a slender stem and resemble swords. Its flowers also grow from the base of the stem. They are white, characteristic, with also a characteristic white stamen in the center. Its flowers look like callus. The sword leaf belongs to the plants with the property of cleaning the atmosphere of the house from certain environmental pollutants, such as benzene and formaldehyde.

Light: Grows much better in bright places, where there is adequate lighting. To keep it alive and with rich flowering, we place the sword leaf in a bright place and in a place that does not come into contact with the direct rays of the sun to avoid burns on its leaves.

Water: The sword leaf has moderate water needs and we usually water it once a week. If left untreated for several days, the spathiphyllum shows that it needs watering, as its leaves begin to tilt down and show a lethargy. After watering it, it comes back quickly and regains its vitality. During the summer period, in hot conditions, we water more often, as soon as the soil dries.

Temperature: Spathiphyllum needs temperatures of 20-25 ° C to maintain green foliage and vibrant vegetation. It is sensitive to lower temperatures and especially to strong temperature fluctuations, it loses the intense color of the foliage.

Fertilization: We add liquid flowering fertilizer once a month from spring to autumn to ensure vitality of the leaves and to have rich flowering.

Last tip-tip: Once the flowering of the sword leaf is complete, remove the withered flower, cutting it low at the point where the stem develops between the leaves. By removing the dried and mature flowers, we encourage the plant to give new flowering.
